Newgate (previoulsy PPS) successfully supported RWE npower renewables in re-framing the wind debate in Swansea in relation to its proposals for a 48MW wind farm at Mynydd y Gwair.
This work helped highlight the level of local support for the wind farm
Working with the wider RWE npower renewables team, a proactive communications programme was implemented to ensure the benefits of the scheme were clearly communicated to local communities and interested parties in the face of an active local anti-wind campaign. This included the implementation of a proactive engagement programme with local suppliers and other organisations that may be interested in the proposals, to encourage supporters of the scheme to write to the Council and local press expressing their support.
This work helped highlight the level of local support for the wind farm that exists, as well as reinforcing the key benefits of the scheme amongst the wider Swansea population.
The scheme was granted permission at Planning Committee in February 2013.
