Supporting residents through building remediation

Delivering building fire safety comms for a leading developer

The Brief
A national housebuilder appointed SEC Newgate to support resident, stakeholder and community communications following the identification of significant construction defects at one of its residential developments in London. The situation required the temporary relocation of hundreds of residents while extensive remediation works were undertaken, creating a highly sensitive environment involving homeowners, tenants, local councillors, managing agents, and contractors.

Our Solution and the Outcomes

Solution

SEC Newgate developed and delivered a comprehensive resident engagement and stakeholder communications programme, providing strategic counsel to our client throughout the remediation process. We manage resident correspondence (dedicated project inbox), project updates (dedicated resident web portal), town hall events, digital communications and one-to-one engagement, ensuring residents have access to timely information and support throughout a complex and evolving programme. We have also worked closely with stakeholders, including locally elected representatives, housing partners and delivery teams, to maintain alignment and confidence as the project progresses.

Outcomes

Our approach has helped our client maintain constructive relationships with residents and key stakeholders throughout a challenging remediation programme. By combining strategic communications with stakeholder engagement, we have reduced uncertainty and helped prepare residents for relocation from, and eventual return to, their homes. The project demonstrates SEC Newgate's expertise in delivering sensitive engagement programmes where empathy and clear communication are critical to success.

We enabled our client’s staff to get on with their regular jobs and reduced leaseholder distress.
