Case study - Labour Party ESG roundtables

Bringing businesses and Labour together

BRIEF

With the Labour Party under new leadership and the prospect of a Labour government in 2024 growing, many of our clients needed to develop relationships with senior Labour figures to get a sense of what a Labour government would mean for their business – and position themselves to influence Labour’s policy agenda.

SOLUTION

In summer 2022, SEC Newgate held a series of roundtable discussion dinners on ESG with Shadow Business Secretary Jonny Reynolds, Shadow Business Minister Seema Malhotra, and senior Labour officials.

Hosted by our Executive Chairman Mark Glover, the event brought together senior business representatives from DHL, Anglian Water, Cadent Gas, Sodexo and more for an in depth discussion about Labour’s policies on ESG.

Senior business figures at this high level dinner shared their experiences and approaches on environment, social and corporate governance and how companies are adapting their strategy and operations to address the challenges of the future.

OUTCOME

It was a fantastic opportunity for these organisations to share best practice and new thinking around how businesses are embedding purpose in business. The three roundtables fed into an internal report which the Labour Party is drafting, which will inform the future direction of Labour’s policy platform.
