Last week, we hosted our third Impact Series breakfast talk. This time we focused on the theme of growth - not the polished, linear kind, but the messy, human kind that unfolds in the midst of uncertainty, grief, and change.

We were joined by the brilliant Chance Marshall, creative psychotherapist, author and member of this year’s Sunday Times Alternative Rich List. Previously, Chance co-founded Self Space, where he led a team of 140 clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, arts therapists and counsellors to deliver over 120,000 therapy sessions. Now, he leads Ramble Retreats and other human-centred projects, and remains focused on his mission to make mental health more every day, more accessible, and more deeply connected to real life.

At our event, Chance explored what it means to grow when life feels like a lot. Drawing from personal experiences and thousands of therapy sessions, he shared reflections on growing through grief, change, and uncertainty, living a fulfilled life - not just a full one - and staying close to the people, places, and things that matter most.

It was a morning of big feelings, warm conversation, and gentle reminders that growth doesn’t always look like progress. Sometimes, it’s just about showing up, staying present, and being in it together - whatever “it” is for you.

The Impact Series is an energising event programme that kickstarts your morning with bite-sized, inspiring talks over breakfast. Extraordinary speakers from diverse fields are handpicked for their ability to spark fresh ideas and encourage open, thought-provoking discussions.

With an aim to tackle unconventional and sometimes taboo topics, we want to ensure this event series pushes beyond traditional industry boundaries to inspire new ways of thinking.
