Phil co-founded Newington in 2006 (which merged with SEC Newgate UK in early 2021) and since then has spearheaded its growth in the planning and development sector, and on local and devolved levels.
During this time, Phil and the Newington team have worked in more than 90% of local planning authorities across the UK and has delivered a 95%+ success rate in securing planning consents. Over the last few years, Phil and his team have advised on more than 60 energy and infrastructure planning applications, over 75,000 new homes and on countless commercial, retail, hotel and leisure projects across every corner of the UK.
Phil has worked in politics and communications for almost 30 years, advising international companies such as Qatari Diar, Far East Consortium, Wheelabrator and AES alongside UK sector leaders such as Barratt Homes, Legal and General, RES and British Land. He has worked across all sectors of planning, development and infrastructure, and has advised public sector bodies such as local authorities, and public-private partnerships alongside private sector clients.
He previously served as a Conservative councillor in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and has been a candidate for the Greater London Assembly. Phil is a member of Catalyst UK and sits on the UKTI Professional and Business Services Trade and Investment Advisory Group.
Proudest moments rather than a single moment, but seeing our three daughters grow up and supporting them with school, hobbies and the occasional work-related opportunity like introducing them to the Prime Minister.
