Assembling 45,000 people in London to discuss climate ambition and the transition to a more sustainable future may feel like a heavy lift in the turbulent world of 2025 yet on Monday, London Climate Action Week 2025 will kick off and is billed as being bigger and more important for the UK than ever before.

London remains the world’s leading centre for green finance and was the first major global economy to commit to net zero by 2050 as a statutory target. That climate leadership continues to define London and the UK on the world stage.

While political scrutiny, and public cynicism around net zero have spiked this year, for many businesses, the investment opportunity that lies in funding the transition to a sustainable economic future remains huge.

Many businesses attending LCAW would argue that the transition to a sustainable future is a story of growth, job creation and economic resilience. Figures from BloombergNEF project that achieving global net zero by 2050 will require $6.7 trillion per year, totalling nearly $200 trillion in cumulative investment. This includes massive capital flows into clean power, electric vehicles, grids, carbon capture, and hydrogen technologies.

London Climate Action Week 2025 provides a platform for business, political leaders, civic society and activists to meet, share views and explore how the UK—and London in particular—can lead this economic transformation.

Getting this right also remains critical to corporate reputation in a world in which the public still expect business to be responsible and to invest in decarbonising operations, reducing waste and pollution and preserving nature. While cynicism around net zero policy maybe growing, support for the core principle of building a sustainable future that protects people and planet remains strong.

LCAW 2025 will showcase this leadership through a compelling programme of events.

At SEC Newgate, we’re proud to be at the heart of this conversation. We’re supporting or managing 23 events during the week, helping clients and partners navigate the risks and opportunities of the climate transition. We will report back on key outcomes from London Climate Action Week in our next full edition of Purpose on Payday but in the meantime, a calendar of the events we are involved in is set out below.

Please do come along, join the debate and network with other business and political leaders.
